BEHIND THE ROMEO’S GIN PROJECT, THERE’S A SERIES OF 24 MONTREAL ARTISTS. WE ASKED THEM A FEW QUESTIONS IN ORDER TO UNDERSTAND THEIR VISION AND THEIR EXPERIENCE OF ROMEO’S MUSEUM, CANADA’S FIRST URBAN ART MUSEUM!

Q: How does it feel to be here with 23 other artists?

A: At first, it’s nice meeting. See artworks in progress and have comments. It’s a contrast to what I usually do. Normally, I’m lonely in my studio, then it’s interesting and nice. It’s an energy that I do not see often.

Q: How does it feel to create and work in a staircase?

A: It’s working directly on the wall which is a bit confusing. I like this hour, nobody is here. Normally some people take the staircase destabilizing. I’m not accustomed when I work. So, it’s interesting and funny.

Q: What is a museum for you?

A: The definition… it’s… a place to get lost, in the present and the past.

LANDLORD

The emergency stairs, a void crossing the bowels of the building. This same building is placed on a pedestal also revealing metaphorical entrails. The building is the present and symbolizes the human desire for sustainability. Durability that will, in turn, relegated to the depths: thin layer of time buried inside.
